$2,695.00
DESCRIPTION: A wonderful Chinese carved nephrite figure of a reclining “lotus boy,” crafted from a beautiful medium-green jade with light and dark inclusions. Here the smiling boy is depicted with head held up, feet tucked in, reclining on a lotus leaf with a seed pod under his left elbow. An area of lighter inclusions is incorporated into the design as a lotus tendril climbing up the boy’s backside. In Chinese folklore, such figures represent the hope for many sons - “as many as the seeds in the lotus pod.” From a fine and long held Florida collection, it is in very good condition and dates from the Qing Dynasty, probably early 19th C. DIMENSIONS: 4 ¾” long (12 cm) x 2 ½” high (6.4 cm).
