NOTE: Ancient East specializes in pre-1945 Asian art and antiques (generally corresponding to the end of WWII, the Republic of China period, and Japan's Showa Period). Carved works of art are composed of various materials, some including elephant ivory or other endangered species. We support the goal of eliminating the on-going criminal poaching of endangered animals. Because we support conservation efforts of live populations, we only feature works of art crafted from these species that are genuine antiques. However, we believe these antique works of art should also be preserved and have much to offer on behalf of artistic, historical and cultural appreciation. We also believe the sale, collecting and exchanging of these antique items presents no danger to current populations. Prospective purchasers are advised that a number of countries prohibit the importation of property containing endangered species products.
