| DESCRIPTION: An appealing and well carved Japanese okimono of six standing monkeys, arms stretched upwards, holding two additional reclining monkeys high above them. One of the reclined monkeys is warily eating fruit while the other feigns devotion in order to get a bite for himself. The detail on this carving is quite good as evidenced by the finely delineated fur, and the tiny ears and hands that are perfectly carved. The base is signed and decorated with a double leaf mark. Meiji Period (1886 – 1912), and in good condition with minor hairlines. DIMENSIONS: 3 ½” high (9 cm) x 2” wide (5 cm).
