DESCRIPTION: A good antique ivory snuff bottle, each side deeply carved with garden scenes inside rectangular cartouches, surrounded by graceful scrolling vines. On one side a man and woman read a scroll while on the other a scholar instructs a young boy. Once polychromed, the colors have been worn away through usage and handling. Dating from the 19th C. Qing Dynasty (probably mid 1800’s), the bottle is in good condition; short age fissures are visible at the top shoulder and one side of the footed base. DIMENSIONS: 3” high (7.6 cm) x 1 7/8” wide (4.8 cm).
