DESCRIPTION: A small Chinese celadon jade plaque carved in the form of a Kylin, a mythical Chinese beast of good omen somewhat akin to a Chinese unicorn. Toward his haunches another Chinese symbol of good luck appears in the form of a bat. Carved in relief on both sides, it dates from the latter Qing Dynasty, c. 1880 – 1910.
