| DESCRIPTION: And exceptional and flamboyant pair of yellow Buddhist Lions or Foo Dogs, each resting on their hind feet while holding brocade balls between their paws. The extraordinary hand embellished details include their green-glazed tightly curled manes, tails and beards, and long flowing pink ribbons held between their teeth. These were obviously made as a pair but with numerous variations in details because of the applied hand work. This is one of the nicest pair of genuinely old ceramic foo dogs we’ve seen, and they are in perfect condition with no chips or breaks; late 19th or early 20th C.
