| DESCRIPTION: A decorative and brightly painted Chinese wooden bucket originally used to hold rice in the household. Dating from the 1920’s, this bucket is sometimes called a “pumpkin bucket” due to its distinctive raised and brightly colored exterior panels. It has been crafted like a barrel with twisted wire at the upper rim and foot which secure the shaped strips together. The red lid has a shaped knob, and Chinese characters can be seen on the interior foot. In very good condition with some separation in a couple of panels due to shrinkage, but nothing is loose due to the wire bands that secure it.
