| DESCRIPTION: A Japanese shakudo (copper alloy) kozuka, c. 1700 – 1760, with a well patinated nanako background (literally “fish roe”) of tiny dome-shaped dots produced by a punch. The shakudo plate is set into a gilt copper frame with a repousse’ motif in gold and silver detailing of a tied grouping of autumn flowering plants picked for ikebana (flower arranging). Nagoya (Mino) School in Goto style, unsigned, in good condition with some rubbing to edges of inset. DIMENSIONS: 3 ¾” long (9.5 cm). | |||||||||
