| DESCRIPTION: A fine shakudo (copper alloy) kozuka with flat inlays (hira-zogan) of gold, silver and copper. The design features a fisherman on a dock under an outstretched pine tree, with his creel basket resting near him to hold newly caught fish. The pine needles and fisherman’s cloak are of inlaid gold, while his head, hat, hands, pole and creel are inlaid silver. The large pine tree and its boughs spreading over the dock are of inlaid copper. Depicted with kata-kiri-bori engraving are the dock and waves, as well as the boat moored by the riverbank on the reverse. Kaga Province inlay, c. 1690 – 1730; unsigned; very good work and condition.
