| DESCRIPTION: From a private collection comes this fine bronze okimono of the Japanese god, Fukurokuju. One of the seven lucky gods of good fortune, Fukurokuju represents wisdom, wealth and longevity, and is often portrayed with a long beard and an unusually high forehead, signs of his great wisdom and age. Here he is depicted carrying his staff (which is removable) and a scroll. A cloth headdress is draped over his high forehead and falls softly around his shoulders. His face has a pleasant, serene expression and his robe, tied with a long cord, has exceptionally long sleeves that fall in gentle folds. Under his right sleeve is the artist’s signature. CONDITION: This fine Meiji piece comes in virtually mint condition with a beautiful, dark patina and no restoration. DIMENSIONS: Figure is 10” tall x 5” wide; height with staff is 11 ½”.
