| DESCRIPTION: A beautiful triptych wood block print by print master Toyokuni III, 1786-1865 (also known as Kunisada), one of the most active and esteemed Japanese Ukiyo-e artists of the Edo period. The Ukiyo-e (or “floating world”) style was born in Kyoto and later brought to Edo, where woodblock printing became the predominant medium of Ukiyo-e. This triptych depicts a narrative scene with four performers dressed in elaborate butterfly costumes, striking drums. The print is in virtually perfect condition with very good impressions and beautiful, clear color. Professionally archival framed with a light silk mat and ready to hang. Mid 1800’s, Edo Period.
