DESCRIPTION:  A good scholar’s water coupe (or brush washer) with blue underglaze floral patterns in loose brushstrokes.  Placed on the Chinese scholar’s desk, such coupes would hold water for rinsing brushes while the scholar worked on paintings or calligraphy.  Good condition, small abrasions to base rim, 18th century Qing Dynasty.  DIMENSIONS:  2 3/8” diameter (6 cm) x 1 ½” high (4 cm). <div id='rater_target1267610'></div>
