DESCRIPTION: An antique Chinese ivory cricket box, finely etched with the image of the god of longevity, Shou Lao (or Shou-xing), shown riding his stag with five lucky bats flying overhead. On the reverse is an etched five line poem that includes signifying marks. The lid is made from carved and pierced tortoise shell in a design of double dragons chasing a pearl. This handsome piece has an attractive, aged patina and is in excellent condition. DIMENSIONS: 3 5/8" high (9.3 cm) x 2 1/2" diameter (6.4 cm).
