DESCRIPTION:  A fine Chinese ivory carving of a seated female musician, her hair pulled up in a double chignon. Her beautiful face gazes downward while holding her tasseled instrument with both hands.  She is seated on a decorated drum, the back of which bears an inscription. Early 20th C.  PROVENANCE: The Collection of G. Jules Marder, past president of the Oriental Art Club of Chicago. DIMENSIONS: 8 ¼” high (21 cm) without wood base; with base, 9” high (23 cm).<div id='rater_target1152615'></div>
