Large Lidded Chinese Ginger Jar, Mid 19th C. Qing

DESCRIPTION: A Chinese lidded ginger jar, the floral design in a color palette of blues, lavenders, green and orange on a yellow ground. A foo dog finial tops the lid, with four raised foo dog heads spaced at the shoulders. Fired in a wood kiln on a sand base, this jar probably dates from the Daoguang reign (1821 – 1850). Good condition; wear/scuffs to the enamel in places, superficial cracks to glaze only on inner foot; no breaks, chips or repairs noted. DIMENSIONS: 15” high (38 cm) x 8 ½” diameter (21.5 cm).   Price: $895   Stock #CP189
