| DESCRIPTION: Two round lidded Chinese fruit trays, each with bracket feet and interior compartments for fruit or sweets. The lid of the slightly smaller tray is decorated with flowering foliage and a shuangxi character meaning "double happiness," a symbol of both happiness and longevity. The five black lacquered compartments of the inner tray are removable. The lid of the larger tray is decorated with a central shuangxi character which is surrounded by stylized flowers and xi characters (meaning joy). Its inner tray has seven compartments which are fixed and molded as a part of the tray. First half of the 20th C.; good condition with normal wear from usage. DIMENSIONS: Smaller Tray: 9 7/8” diameter (25 cm) x 2 ¼” high (5.8 cm). Larger Tray: 10 5/8” diameter (27 cm) x 3” high (7.6 cm). Price: $165 each or $300 for both - On Hold Stock #BPB71 |
