| DESCRIPTION: A very fine and deeply carved Chinese export ivory card case, 19th C. The unusually thick, domed and pierced lid is expertly carved with a three dimensional profusion of flowers surrounding a center cartouche featuring a Chinese garden scene. On close inspection, you marvel at the delicately carved ivory leaves and tiny flower petals, all placed above a carved diaper-patterned ground.
Covering the sides like a ribbon is an elegant border with climbing vines. The back of the case is flat, and features a pair of garden scene cartouches with an oval plaque ready for engraving. This card case is in remarkable condition with every flower and leaf in place; there’s an insignificant fissure on the inner lip; from a Florida collection. CITES documents obtained if required. Layaway is available. DIMENSIONS: 4 3/8” long (11 cm) x 3” wide (7.6 cm).
