A tall and quite dramatic Japanese ikebana basket crafted of a reddish bamboo, the inner layer woven in a tight herringbone pattern and the outer layer composed of wide vertical bamboo strips added for vertical strength. These wide strips have been split at the tops and woven back down into the basket in projecting V-shaped patterns. Three twisting yellow bamboo twigs form the handle. The base and sides are of platted reed with split bamboo reinforced corners. Throughout have been woven lengths of split bamboo that flamboyantly arch high above the rim.
