Signed Japanese Ivory Ojime, Lucky Gods LVIVR3DESCRIPTION: A signed Japanese ojime, crafted from natural marine ivory and featuring depictions of two of the seven Japanese lucky gods, Diakoku and Ebisu. The ojime was traditionally used in Japan as a slide in conjunction with an inro to hold the cord tightly above the inro, keeping it closed. Now threaded on a long cord, it dates from the late Edo to early Meiji periods.

Fine Japanese Ivory Netsuke of Oni & Benten with Flute NO41DESCRIPTION: In Japanese lore the only female among the “Seven Lucky Gods” is Benten, the Sea Goddess, also known as the goddess of literature and music. Antique Japanese Boxwood Netsuke, Badger Under Lotus SN108DESCRIPTION: A very appealing Japanese boxwood netsuke, dating from the 18th/19th C. (Edo Period), of a badger hiding under a lotus leaf. This well crafted netsuke has a wonderful, silky-smooth patina, and we see the badger’s smug little grin as he pokes his head out from under his hiding place, much like a turtle. Very charming!
