Very Large, Signed Japanese Bronze Brazier, Meiji BB70DESCRIPTION: A large Japanese bronze brazier (or censer) of round globular form with pierced fitted cover, Meiji Period c. 1868-1912. The domed pierced lid forms a diaper pattern and dragon-form handles are mounted on the sides, wrapped with leather strips. An attractive golden color, it is signed on its base by the maker. Small Japanese Brass Cosmetics Box, Early 20th C. LVBB11DESCRIPTION: A Japanese half-round brass box or locket, the hinged lid with raised decoration of a lotus blossom. Inside the lid is a small round mirror which leads us to believe this was used as a cosmetics box. Japanese Menuki, Pair of Oxen, 16th/17th C. BB119DESCRIPTION: Pair of shakudo (gold and copper alloy) menuki in the form of oxen. Goto school, very good work and dating from 1570 to 1610. Japanese Shakudo Kozuka, Tanabata Ledgend, 17th C. BB100DESCRIPTION: A very high quality shakudo kozuka depicting the Tanabata Festival legend, with the heavenly weaver, Shokujo, at her loom. Fine inlays of shibuichi, copper, gold and silver define the weaver and her loom, with kebori and katakira engraving (fine lines like brush strokes) depicting clouds. Good condition; dating from the Edo Period, C. 1640 – 1680. DIMENSIONS: 3 7/8” long (9.8 cm).

Japanese Formal Wear Kozuka With Mons, Late Edo BB101DESCRIPTION: A simple but elegant shibuichi (silver and copper alloy) kozuka with fine, hairline kebori engraving of two mon (Japanese family crests). This mon is the Mitsu-Tome crest, used by a number of Samurai and Daimyo clans. Dating from 1810 – 1850, this kozuka, or accessory knife handle, would have been used with formal wear.
