DESCRIPTION: An early 20th C. Japanese hibachi constructed of vertical bamboo strips and lacquered in the negoro technique. The orange-red lacquer layers have been applied over a back lacquer base and then polished so the black under-layer shows through, resulting in a very beautiful and colorful surface patina. This handsome hibachi has a removable copper liner and is in very good condition with one stable age split on the bottom. DIMENSIONS: 11” high (28 cm) x 12 ½” diameter (31.7 cm).
