DESCRIPTION: Four colorful 19th C. Japanese Imari plates with scalloped edges displaying cartouches containing floral designs in dark blue, iron red, green and gold. Each is in excellent condition with no chips or repairs. DIMENSIONS: Each 8 5/8” diameter (22 cm).

DESCRIPTION: This large, boldly decorated early 19th century Japanese Arita sometsuke (blue and white) porcelain dish in square form (“kaku-zara”) is hand painted in deep cobalt blue with a center floral design against thin parallel lines. This center ground is bordered by diaper designs around the raised rim, with floral cartouches at each corner. Such a dish was used in Japanese tea ceremonies for serving raw fish or shellfish. DESCRIPTION: An appealing Kutani porcelain depiction of two Japanese Lucky Gods, Diakoku and Ebisu, singing and dancing in brightly colored court robes. Often paired together as the two favorite gods of prosperity, Diakoku, holds his mallet and Ebisu beats his drum, both with animated facial expressions. Dating from the 19th C. Meiji Period, the figures are in perfect condition and are signed on the base, “Ryu-un.” DIMENSIONS: 9 ¼” high (23.5 cm) x approximately 8” wide (20.5 cm).

DESCRIPTION: A lidded, hand painted Japanese rice serving bowl, the lid decorated with two confronting roosters among floral designs. Cloud designs line the rims, and the navy blue base tapers dramatically to a raised foot. An impressed maker’s mark appears on the base as well as the original collector’s inventory numbers. Excellent original condition with no chips, and dating from the Showa Period (1926 – 1945). DIMENSIONS: 7 ¼” diameter (8.4 cm) x 4 ½” high (11.5 cm).

DESCRIPTION: A shaped Japanese Imari porcelain dish in “double fish” form, decorated in traditional Imari colors with floral designs in rust red and fish scales and fins in royal blue. The reverse is painted on the center and four sides with florals and grasses. Late 19th/early 20th century, and in excellent condition with no chips or restorations. DIMENSIONS: 10 ½” long (26.6 cm) x 9” wide (23 cm).

DESCRIPTION: A lovely graduated set of Japanese Kutani porcelain bowls, each delicately hand painted with three overlapping rectangular frames which reveal landscape, garden and interior scenes, highlighted with raised gilt decoration. Each bowl is signed on the base, Kutani Sei. The mark and style of this set dates it to the end of Meiji period (1868-1912), from around 1910-20.
