Chinese Goose Form Travel Water Gourd SAO220DESCRIPTION: A double-lobed water or wine gourd decorated with a dark burgundy lacquer and double braided silk cord with two tassels. Both the stopper and the counter-weight of the tassels result in the gourd resembling a goose when set on a table. The cords allow the gourd to be fastened to the wearer’s sash and prevented loss of the rosewood stopper. SAO212DESCRIPTION: A very old Chinese wooden incense or chop sticks holder, crafted in the form of a partially unrolled scroll that bends and folds to form the container. On the edges of the “scroll” is a relief carved key pattern border with traces of gilt, while the worn lacquer surface still shows the original designs of a bird, flower, bamboo and Chinese characters.
