DESCRIPTION: A unique early to mid 19th C. carved ivory brush pot (possibly Jiaqing Period) with a continuous scene, each side having a pair of twisting, confronting dragons in flight among the clouds, chasing the pearl of wisdom. DESCRIPTION: A Chinese bamboo figure, well carved as a recumbent lion with a hollow pierced ball held between its front paws and a pup clambering down from its back. The gifted carver gave this lion a broad toothy grin, giant eyes, and tight curls on its mane and tail. An appealing sculpture in excellent condition, it dates from the early 1900’s, late Qing Dynasty. DIMENSIONS: 5 ½” long (14 cm) x 3 ½” high (9 cm).

DESCRIPTION: A very fine Chinese smoking pipe consisting of a large brass bowl and a long beautifully carved zitan shank, terminating with a shaped green and white jadeite mouthpiece or stem. DESCRIPTION: A handsome rectangular hardwood box, the four sides inlaid with silver wire in archaic designs; the top is inlaid with colored stones, carved as flowers and leaves with a swallow in flight. Originally used as a stationary box for writing implements, this box dates to the first quarter of the 20th C. and is in very good condition with all inlays intact. DESCRIPTION: An exquisitely carved Chinese soapstone seal in flat tablet form, carved in low relief with a Chinese scholar who is studying his texts. As if illustrating what the scholar has been reading, a long Chinese inscription of 28 lines in beautifully carved, tiny characters appears above him, probably a quote from Chinese classical writings or a poem.
