DESCRIPTION: A rarely found complete set of Chinese pressed ink cakes, one of the four treasures of the scholar’s studio, still in their original box. These eight cakes, dating from the late 19th to early 20th C. (Qing Dynasty, C. 1900), represent the Eight Immortals in various poses in raised relief with gilt accents. DESCRIPTION: A set of four Chinese ink and color scrolls, each depicting a different season (shown here beginning with spring). Each scroll is painted with similar scenes of small villages near rivers with towering mountains in the distance. All four scrolls are in excellent condition and date from the mid 20th C. DIMENSIONS: Each scroll’s total dimensions: 65” long (1.65 m) X 15 5/8” wide (39.5 cm). Actual dimensions of each painting: 38 ½” long (97.8 cm) x 12 ½” wide (31.7 cm).

DESCRIPTION: A horizontal Chinese scroll in black ink of eight galloping horses beautifully executed in bold brush strokes. Artist signed and in excellent condition, it dates from the 20th C. From a private collection. DIMENSIONS: Entire scroll: 66” (1.68 meters) x 28” (71 cm). Actual Painting: 50 ½” (1.28 meters) x 25” (63.5 cm).

DESCRIPTION: A Qing Dynasty Chinese scroll painting depicting a seated Chinese deity with a large blue foo dog mask in his lap and two attendants at his feet. All figures have ornate colorful robes of black, green and red and have auroras around their heads. An inscription can be found at the lower middle between the two attendants. DESCRIPTION: A pair of Chinese ink and watercolor paintings, each featuring a pair of swimming or jumping carp. These paintings are quite old, dating from the 18th century Qing Dynasty, and are preserved with conservation mats and beautifully framed in gilded faux bamboo. Each has an inscription in Chinese characters and is signed with the artist’s red seal mark.
