Chinese hand mirror in the shape of a fan adorned with carved jade, uncut Burmese rubies and enameled auspicious symbols. Fine Chinese Jade and Silver Letter Opener, Qing LVJHS7DESCRIPTION: A fine Chinese export letter opener crafted to resemble a Mughal-style dagger with carved spinach jade handle and silver blade. There are no hallmarks but the blade appears to be sterling with a fine acanthus leaf pattern on the ricasso separating the carved jade guard and the raised silver Chinese shou character (meaning longevity) on the blade. Inscribed Chinese Brass Calligraphy Box LVBB14DESCRIPTION: A square scholar’s calligraphy box of solid brass, the outer lid engraved with a poem, translated to mean “Charming landscapes make you get more ideas of writing during autumn.” A nice portable way to carry necessary writing accoutrements, the lower portion of the box was used to hold the ink cake.
