DESCRIPTION: A very elaborate and exceptional 19th C. Chinese hand mirror in the shape of a fan adorned with carved jade, uncut Burmese rubies and enameled auspicious symbols. Inset into the center is a light green jadeite butterfly (a female symbol) that compliments the two silver butterflies at either end of the handle. DESCRIPTION: A Chinese toggle in the shape of a drum, crafted from green nephrite jade with heavy brown veining. Two holes with an adjoining track pierce the top for threading a cord. Toggles were used by men in Chinese cultures as counterweights to other objects such as tobacco pouches or travel utensils that would be suspended from a belt or sash. This elegant, natural color bracelet is in excellent condition and is from a South Florida collection. DESCRIPTION: An outstanding carved Chinese soapstone seal in tall rectangular form, with a large winged dragon and smaller chilong (immature dragon) forming the knob. The large dragon holds the flaming peal near his mouth while the chilong clambers on his back. One side of the rectangular base is engraved with a two line Chinese inscription. DESCRIPTION: A fine Chinese export letter opener crafted to resemble a Mughal-style dagger with carved spinach jade handle and silver blade. There are no hallmarks but the blade appears to be sterling with a fine acanthus leaf pattern on the ricasso separating the carved jade guard and the raised silver Chinese shou character (meaning longevity) on the blade.
