DESCRIPTION: A very fine Chinese smoking pipe consisting of a large brass bowl and a long beautifully carved zitan shank, terminating with a shaped green and white jadeite mouthpiece or stem. The zitan shank has been fashioned so that the area where the pipe is held is carved in low relief while the remaining is in higher relief with a variety of carved plants, leaves and flowers. DESCRIPTION: A small Chinese celadon jade plaque carved in the form of a Kylin, a mythical Chinese beast of good omen somewhat akin to a Chinese unicorn. Toward his haunches another Chinese symbol of good luck appears in the form of a bat. Carved in relief on both sides, it dates from the latter Qing Dynasty, c. 1880 – 1910. DESCRIPTION: An exquisite Chinese table screen, elaborately carved with a mounted jade bi on one side and an inscription on the reverse. Stands such as these were custom made to display specific precious jade artifacts, with this bi most likely dating from the Neolithic Period (5,000 to 2,000 BC). DESCRIPTION: An unusual celadon nephrite disc carved from a single stone, yet consisting of two separate interlocking discs, each independent of the other. Both sides are identically carved with the outer disc crafted of two interwoven bands in an “endless knot” design with eight perforations. This wraps around an inner ring of incised lines, also divided into eight sections by perpendicular bands.
