DESCRIPTION: A vintage bronze rain drum, closely associated with the Karen culture indigenous to the Thailand-Burma border region in Southeast Asia. This is an authentic Type III Karen drum (based on Heger's classification system) with a protruding lip (unlike the earlier Dong Son drums), double stacked frogs on the top, and three dimensional elephants and snails descending the trunk of a stylized tree on the side. DESCRIPTION: A colorful polychrome Tibetan chest (or cabinet) with a yellow and green flower motif on a red ground. Hand painted on all four sides, the chest is constructed in the traditional style with pegs and dovetailed joints and comes with four drawers, two on each side, with leather pull straps. 19th C., good condition with few minor scuffs to painted surface. DIMENSIONS: 33 ½” high (85 cm) x 28 ¼” wide (71.8 cm) x 18 ¼” deep (46.5 cm).
